Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition Xbox One X Preview

I didn’t see much news on this, but generally yes, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is finally Xbox One X enhanced. I first reported a long time ago that it was going to be, then later on that it wasn’t. It’s been a system of turmoil as its removal from the enhancement list somewhat meant that it just wouldn’t arrive. Then, out of the blue, it’s enhanced one day.

That’s really awesome, and I suppose it’s just a great effort from Gearbox Publishing to start fixing up their older games. I make the comparison to the Borderlands series recently also getting a boost across the board. It gives me hope that any older title may suddenly look better than ever. Moving past that, we get a 4k resolution boost here with no HDR support. I would have liked HDR in this one, but not a huge deal I suppose. The resolution upgrade is very noticeable and appreciated.

The game seems to generally run perfectly fine with it as well, didn’t notice any issues while giving it another whirl. I played some regular Echoes to try out different environments regularly and then hopped in with the legendary Duke Nukem for some campaign play.

Aside from running well with this boost in quality, it’s still really fun to play. I truly do enjoy the inclusion of Duke Nukem in this, it’s silly and works with the character. He’s basically a satire styled fish out of water. There are no changes, aside from the dialogue for him and that’s just funny. At least, to me I find it rather humorous. His responses to what’s going on are great.

The game’s wild deaths really pop with the visual upgrade, the blood splatters against all sorts of environments are a treat. Whether you’re just exploding them with guns, throwing them wildly into the local cactus or exploding nearby carts. It’s a creative effort for sure, and one that’s a lot of fun. I really do believe it’s a worthwhile visit to check back in and give this one a go if it has been awhile. If you haven’t played it, the game is just weird and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

I’m not sure that the multiplayer is still raging on as I couldn’t find folks, but the campaign is solid and the Echoes can be decent challenges. It’s a strange game that doesn’t take itself too seriously and honestly it would be nice to see more games like this in the future.
