At the Calgary Expo 2021 there was a Dante Basco panel at the BMO Center palomino where he went over his career. The showcase event started with details about his history, being an actor for thirty-five years. He then briefly mentioned being a break dancer on the streets of San Francisco, to then chatting about his favorite things such as Transformers or the Thundercats.
Then a quick mention of voice over work on Star Wars Rebels. From there it’s a discussion about the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender series in the works at Netflix. He’s optimistic about the cast, and is even willing to chat with the new Prince Zuko. There is a wonder about what will be canon, but he’s in general wishing them the best.
Some past memorable scenes he’s had included working with Mark Hamill who played Fire Lord Ozai on the show. The Luke and Darth Vader scene was very similar to the first scene between Mark and Dante. They got to be friends, and talk about Star Wars. There’s then a mention about Braving the Elements podcast which dives into the show and has various guest appearances from many actors.
There’s a neat chat about how Dustin Hoffman helped direct him through a death scene, seeing Dante as an actor committed to his craft. He then goes on to mention that acting is a lifestyle, ”got to take the jump to be an artist”. His current projects include having directed a film, Artificial on Twitch and shooting stuff such as a rom com in New York. That about sums everything up, we have additional panel and other coverage from the show in our hub.
