Cosmic Defenders is a fairly simple and straight forward type of title. It’s a Nintendo Switch exclusive that tasks players with defending planets from being attacked. You’ll do this in a funky way however as this is a 2D environment.
You’ll be able to run either way around the planet to blast away, or perform certain methods to eliminate those pesky enemies. To build on this concept further you’ll be able to switch planets, having to save multiple ones at the same time.
I was able to check this out at E3 2019 through Natsume as it was one of their published indie titles. It was a neat title to play and certainly something that was different to experience. The particular build provided an evolution of play as it taught me the core mechanics and then slowly added to the difficulty.
It seems like this could be a wild and frantic time as the levels increase in their provided challenge. I also enjoyed the visuals as they were really distinct in design. It features a cartoon-like look that definitely makes it stand out. It also gets rather wild with the more things going on, but luckily it’s easy to tell what is what here. They have some neat mechanics as you may be blasting, or reacting to the various creatures that orbit the planets.
It seems like a neat experience thus far. They appear to be aiming to deliver a number of levels in the story mode, at least from what I was shown as a tease. That’s all for Cosmic Defenders, at least for now. Check out our E3 2019 hub for additional coverage from the event.
