Crackdown Xbox One X Enhanced Preview

Crackdown is one of my favorite Xbox 360 games, it's a classic sort of title at this point being something that was just fun to play. With that, it's now finally Xbox Backwards Compatible and also Xbox One X Enhanced. That enhancement brings some incredible increases in resolution that greatly improves the look of the game. Playing it on Xbox One X I honestly am shocked it didn't release at the current time. I feel the cell shading graphic style helps, but damn is it smooth and really great looking. It's a small tweak to the game itself, yet one that makes it a treat to play even now.

Keep in mind that certain aspects still come across as aged in regards to the draw distance rendering, but that aside it looks good. When playing it on the premium console you get a higher resolution at 9X the pixel count with increased texture details and antialiasing. This is automatically applied, but you can choose to turn that off now though I'm not sure why you would want to. I guess if you were doing a comparison video, but still don't see the point of that option for regular users.

For the most part this Crackdown Xbox One X enhancement is amazing, I will note that during some of the crazy explosion areas there might be minor performance issues. It's odd, though understandable considering the mayhem and the power involved with emulating these games.

I don't at all mind because it's just great to enjoy this game again on modern hardware. It looks better than it ever has and it was easy to waste some time in this again. I forgot how fun Crackdown can be and even started a new game plus just to take out some gang leaders again. I did this as I had forgotten how hard it is to get people to play with you online though as soon as I started hosting a game I had someone in seconds, hilarious.

The coop is actually where I noticed the performance issues I had mentioned earlier so it may just be a cooperative type occurrence. Whatever the case is, it was a blast even playing with some random online. We went around decimating the gang leaders as over powered agents and it felt nostalgic.

Crackdown does seem somewhat shallow at this point in what you were doing, yet still just a fun open sandbox to explore. I really think the shallow aspect comes from the straight forward narrative whereas the gameplay holds up. I can see why it was so enjoyable back then as it's a place to hop or climb around while blasting foes, or throwing them.

I also can't forget to mention the heavenly sound of the Agility Orb of which I'm only missing a hundred of them, but I don't want to fall into that addiction after doing it in Crackdown 2. Remember agent, skills for kills and really do go back to visit this one if you have the Xbox One X as it's so impressive looking.
