In DayZ Xbox One and Playstation 4 the ability to farm pumpkins is a helpful skill that will assist with survival in the game. At the time of writing they provide high water content, with minimal food gain. This guide will be going over the act of farming, preparation and usage of the food source within the game that should be helpful for all.
Pumpkins aren’t necessarily something you’ll just come across while playing the game regularly. You’ll basically need to grow these, and thankfully they’re easier to find after the 1.06 update. You can easily find the seeds packaged up in green houses, or even regular buildings. From there you’ll need to a digging tool such as a shovel in order to make a plot garden.
Once the dirt area is placed, break open a pack of seeds and place one on each of the nine spots. Now, you should ideally create this setup close to a water fountain or while it’s raining. You need water to get the food growing, rain will do this naturally or you can use any other type of water you’ve collected. After ten to twenty minutes of real time these crops will grow and you can harvest them.
Be careful not to pull out the seeds or well plant, as it can re-grow. Once harvested you need to use a sharp item in order to make slices out of the Pumpkin which in turn will grant you additional seeds as well to use in the future. Enjoy your healthy snack out there survivors! This should be easy to follow and not at all difficult to follow guide wise.
