Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris Review

"Weak Repetition"

Campaign

Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris is the first expansion for the game that provides a fairly short campaign and some other small content. It largely takes place on Mercury as you battle against the Vex throughout time. You don't however see that time aspect used to the full potential. It follows "Orisis", an exiled guardian. You see shadows of this character and directly interact with his ghost. It's a sporadic journey with a narrative that lacks cohesion.

It really doesn't make much sense as you're thrown all around battling in the same sort of lazily pieced together almost virtual reality environment. I loved the past settings however as that landscape was beautiful. That art direction truly does shine when given the chance, it was stunning on Xbox One X. For those that desire something fresh or new, you won't find that here. There are some minor bosses to battle, but this is generally a rather short experience.

The Conclusion

Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris disappoints providing a short campaign with a sporadic narrative. Nothing really makes sense here and you're just somewhat along for the ride. It had the potential to be interesting, but it really doesn't do anything new. You'll often wonder the point of it all across a couple hours.

The environments didn't feel too distinct and you largely go through the same area multiple times. I didn't get attached to the new additions to the cast and I didn't understand the point of why you were doing anything in it. It might have provided some context to the never ending fight, but it can easily be missed and you'll notice no difference in future entries.
