New Super Lucky's Tale is the latest port for this awesome character, taking the Xbox One/Windows 10 PC version and bringing it to the Nintendo Switch. It plays almost exactly the same as the other release, with the starter level being showcased here.
It’s supposed to have all the content of the other version, including new levels, story elements and cinematics. The controls have been adjusted and you can now experience a fully rotatable 3D camera. This was beneficial, but I didn’t really notice it while playing. I suppose that means it’s a natural enhancement.
In this title you’re running around to battle against the mysterious Jinx and his nefarious Kitty Litter. You’re after the Book of Ages, and it’s a rather adorable tale for all ages. The platforming elements can be difficult at times but it is fairly accessible.
During levels you’ll have main goals, and there are other things to search for as well. The game features a variety of 3D type environments and also 2D side scrolling challenges. There are puzzles, extra missions and boss fights to tackle. The demo was minimal, taking the initial level area and acting as a tutorial. I flipped under the dirt and just ran through things the best I could remember them. The visuals are fine, a step down from what I’m used to though it still looks great. There appeared to be more of a blur, or softened edge with this one in regards to the visuals.
Still, a good time and an enjoyable time. It’s great to see the game arrive on more platforms for additional people to play. It really is a lot of fun and I suggest checking it out when it arrives if you haven’t played it before, it should be really good as portable platformer as well. That’s all for New Super Lucky's Tale, at least for now. Check out our E3 2019 hub for additional coverage from the event.
