Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Chained Ogre Guide to Win Easily

The Chained Ogre boss is a powerful and annoying creature to deal with early in the game. I found this rather difficult, but there’s a somewhat easier way to win aside from just going in and dying. I died what felt like a hundred times, so hopefully this helps. Basically you’re going to want to get the spawn shrine that’s above the tower gate area that leads to steps from which the ogre is located. From there, sneak up on the fire warriors, assassinate the left one with an instant kill.

He’s the tougher of the two, then just slash the other one quickly. No parry is needed at that part. From there, run up the steps and cut left in front of the ogre. Just keep moving and quick slash the spear guy, no parrying needed. The Chained Ogre will have broken free at this point, engage. Perform a number of slashes initially, no attack will be given for a few seconds. Eventually you’ll see a symbol which means a grab, this is to teach you about this attack. You’ll need to dodge.

The key to this victory is to slash a few times, then roll twice in either direction. I felt the left was the best way to go. Just keep doing this over and over for a few minutes, you’ll win this way. The ogre can often catch you if you’re not doing the double roll, if you think one is enough in this regard. It doesn’t sound like a lot of help, but this is the best way to do it. You should be able to accomplish this without even losing any health if you get the rhythm down right. I also suggest keeping the ogre in the area it spawns at, this is tight and balanced ground wise. You can see this method displayed in the video at the 18:30 mark of it.
