Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Xbox One X Enhanced Preview

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is an interesting choice for an enhanced title and one I didn't see coming. It probably has to do with some sort of partnership that was setup for the array of Original Xbox Star Wars games releasing. Whatever the case, it's welcomed as this does look really good. It's a rather old title at this point, but it still has some great visuals and with this update it's looking sharp. I worked through some of the main story and then ran through both of the DLC packs. There was one that took us to the Jedi Temple and another that sent a darker individual to Jabba's Palace.

Both were fun to unleash the power of the dark side in, but it was the upgrade that made it a special time. The force powers looked intense, the character models were incredibly sharp and the world was still ever so authentic. It does seem somewhat simplistic for most of the quality, and the backdrops have aged being rather empty. Still, it looks far better than it ever did before on consoles and it's a good way to enjoy this really unique take on Star Wars. The Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Xbox One X enhanced update brings 4X the pixel count for the Xbox One S whereas the premium console gets 16X. It makes the worlds come alive and the sparkle of force lightning crackle with power.

What's really interesting about this series is that it takes a darker approach to things. It starts off rather intensely with you taking on the role of Darth Vader that's involved on a Kashyyyk raid. This teaches the basics of how the lightsaber works in the game along with some of the force powers. You also get to just be powerful which is nice. You unleash upon hordes of Wookies and it's a grand time. At the end of it Vader finds a young boy and trains him as an apprentice. In the story you're doing some bidding for the Empire, so you're essentially a bad guy doing horrible things around the galaxy. There's obviously more to it, but that aspect really does set things up nicely.

This is a straight up single player game which is great, there's a lot of gameplay here and some epic Star Wars locations to visit. That is expanded upon with the two DLC packs. In one you're getting information from Jabba and just wrecking that place while dealing with all the iconic characters you could ever imagine. Things are vastly different during the Temple however, and it's very interesting to visit that location. If you somehow missed out on the game it's a good time to give it a try as this jump to 4k resolution does wonders to this gem of a Star Wars release.
