Strange Brigade - The Thrice Damned 1: Isle of the Dead Review

"More of the Same"

Campaign

Strange Brigade - The Thrice Damned 1: Isle of the Dead sends the epic adventure group back into the fight. They're working to collect pieces of a mystical shield and this is the first portion. It's not exactly anything too wildly new, but should be a great addition for fans of the core package. It really does feel like just another level, a neat one at that. It's got a lot of depth to its quality with beautiful visuals and a distinct environment. There was a pirate theme with the initial beach being a stunning view.

There are some neat changes to the map flow, but this one is rather linear. There are puzzles to solve, new collectibles to obtain and of course cat statues to easily shoot. With this extra mission, there are some extra free horde maps for everyone else as well. There's also the American Aviatrix Character Expansion Pack, which introduces character Tessie Caldwell, her special Firestorm amulet power, the Colbeck Wildfire SMG, Hyde & Sons pistol and Glacier Bombs with the DLC.

The Conclusion

Strange Brigade - The Thrice Damned 1: Isle of the Dead is a solid addition to the game being generally just another level. It doesn't bring anything new as to say, but it still provides a good time. It's a bit more linear than I would have anticipated, but I was fine with that. I generally enjoyed the core game so it would was great to get a little more action. The extra character is a nice addition and does round out the package further. It's not large, but does provide a good amount of additional time to your experience so I'm interested in seeing how the extra chapters are.
