The shooter genre; whether that's first, third or other person perspectives provide many hours of typically competitive action and are always a huge draw in the gaming industry. I spend quite a lot of my casual gaming time engaged in these titles as the thrills of online battles never truly ceases.

Here are a variety of titles from the genre that bring the intense combat in unique ways and capture the attention of players with either fun gun based combat or perhaps a focus on realism. These are the top 10 shooter games of 2019 in a ranked order. I also want to mention that early access titles don't count here, with the focus being on fully released experiences that can be played at any point going forward.

#10: Metro: Exodus

The Metro is left behind for open world environments and the weapons you get continue to be makeshift options for the most part. It’s more of a strategic shooter in the sense that you need to make bullets count in dangerous situations.

#9: The Outer Worlds

Wacky guns and crazy experiences make up this venture through space. Use your special ability to get the best shots or just go in there blasting with a variety of odd weapons. They go wild with what’s available here, and it’s just satisfying to eliminate enemies as you progress further.
Wolfenstein: YoungBlood Game of the Year

#8: Wolfenstein: YoungBlood

The modern Wolfenstein titles are a staple of old school shooting brought forward and the twins deliver some thrills as they blast with a wide arrange of weaponry. There’s an element of futuristic combat to this one as well since it does jump forward time line wise for the series.

#7: Rage 2

Time to get angry as the guns here are incredibly over the top with the action be adrenaline fueled to the max. Use special extras to make those guns pump even deadlier in this colorful punk apocalypse. The shotguns and anything that can make heads pop are particularly thrilling.
Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Game of the Year

#6: Borderlands 3

It’s all about guns in Borderlands, and you’re constantly finding new prettier ones to collect along the way. They went further than ever before in this one as the gun types expand and the options get even more insane. Shooting guns that shoot guns, or ones that shoot little turrets. The level of gun-ception is pure insanity within this one.

#5: Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

The battle in PvZ never ends and this one increases the roster further while providing more intense battlegrounds to fight for. Venture in large maps, on teams to battle for objectives or do so cooperatively. It’s a weird shooter, but quite a fun one and a good primer for those looking to play Battlefield someday.

#4: Ion Fury

An absolute blast from the past this title delivers the type of shooting from days past, and it does so. Shine those key cards and use a wide range of gnarly weapons to obliterate foes. Move through levels as you try to figure out the path of least resistance, or perhaps the busiest one depending on how in the mood you are for shooting things that happen to get in your way. Unleash the fury, the ion kind!

#3: Apex Legends

This has obviously been an absolutely massive release this year taking the industry by storm during the start of 2019. It has continued to grab the attention of players featuring smooth gunplay taken from Titanfall. It adds many intense tactical options for working with others and a beautiful world to battle upon.
Modern Warfare Shooter

#2: Gears 5

The combat continues to grow in its visceral combat and this shooter evolves offering a more varied set of opportunities when it comes to weapons. Fire from behind cover, or get in personal with the Gnasher to power through the folks that get in your way. It’s buttery smooth combat, and offers a lot of gunplay.

#1: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The reboot for this Modern Warfare series absolutely nails its weapons featuring a wide range of authentic and deadly options for conflict. This is furthered by the realistic setting and push towards realism as you can feel the weight behind these weapons in many campaign scenes, without even getting to the intense multiplayer action.

Those are the top 10 shooter games of 2019 featuring a wide range of titles, perhaps some surprises as well. Hopefully a good variety, with a title or two that you might have missed and should take a gander at.
