With the new year having finally arrived, it’s time to take a look at Xbox 2022 with what to expect from the biggest rumors to the exclusive launches that will mark the release for the platform over the year to come.

Of course, some new things will be announced and some elements may get delayed. That is of course just the way the industry goes sometimes, but it’s fun to speculate and in general prepare for what’s to come over the course of the year.

This article is broken down into three main areas. That includes the likes of “what to expect”; “third party” and finally “down the road”. The first portion are the games we know are arriving and some of the rumors. The third party covers games from other publishers and developers set to release on the console.

These ones don’t necessarily have marketing deals, but are ones to watch out for. Finally, there’s the down the road section which covers games without release dates that are expected for the years to come. Enjoy, and the video of course dives into all of these as well, definitely worth a watch I’d say.

What to Expect
The first game was a bit of a surprise to see, that being Goldeneye 007 which is apparently going to be a remake or remaster of the Nintendo 64 experience. Expect that to randomly arrive, perhaps being on Xbox Game Pass and also Nintendo Switch Online. It seems that the deal has been smoothed out since Xbox Achievements have been tracked and that means it’s an actual game.

The next game is Starfield, basically described as The Elder Scrolls but in space. It’s potentially game of the year or even the game of the generation. Starfield arrives on November 11, 2022. We’ll also see continued updates for Halo Infinite as they trickle out Forge, Maps, Game Types and Coop, hopefully.

Other games with updates include Grounded possibly fully releasing and Forza Horizon 5 getting its two expansions. Redfall will arrive in the summer described as Borderlands like and then Forza Motorsport is also set towards the fall being a revamp of that franchise and a ten year project.

With the exclusivity on Deathloop ending in the fall, expect that to arrive on Xbox as well since its first party. When it comes to CD Projekt Red which has a close partnership with Xbox, anticipate the free next gen updates to Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Going onto marketing and close games we have the likes of Stalker 2 early in the first half of the year releasing on April 28, 2022.

There will also be Slime Rancher 2; Scorn, CrossFireX, Tunic, Somerville, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Ark 2, Sniper Elite 5, Warhammer 40k: Darktide, Hello Neighbor 2 and so many more games arriving throughout the year with Xbox Game Pass day one releases and some level of exclusivity to them. Some rumored projects included “Project Pentiment”, according to Jez Corden of Twitter, and well Windows Central too. This would be a Disco Elysium like narrative branching experience.

Heavy choices, and dialogue are present in what would be a smaller project. There’s “Project Belfry”, again from Jez. That game is a side scrolling game with a home base system featuring crafting and what not. Finally there’s “Project Midnight” which is from Jez again. This is Compulsion’s next project being a dark fantastical third person game with a coming of age theme to it.

Third Party
Here we have the exciting likes of the latest Dark Souls like game which is Elden Ring. An open world take on the concept. That followed by the release of Dying Light 2 finally arriving which is open world zombie survival with a choice mechanic system. You can’t forget Evil Dead: The Game which is a multiplayer title where players get to enjoy iconic characters fighting that Evil Dead.

Crimson Desert is a large scale RPG to look forward to, and so is the exciting Dead Space Remake which is essentially described as a reimagining. It’s also supposed to be the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga which has been sitting there for what seems like forever. It’s finally almost here, the entire series altogether. Hogwarts Legacy looks like an exciting take on the wizarding world of Harry Potter and then you can’t forget the two DC universe games.

That’s Gotham Knights where Batman has died and then Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League where the title is somewhat self-explanatory. You also can’t forget the magic of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 2022 which is supposed to be the next entry in that series, fun times for that if you were a fan of the 2019 reboot.

Down the Road.
Xbox in 2022 or 2023 and even beyond has a lot to look forward to. The likes of which include Avowed which is supposed to be an epic RPG like Skyrim. Then there’s the super long awaited return of Fable from Playground Games. We also have Everwild which is apparently undergoing multiple adjustments and the open world explosive coop action of Contraband.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II which looks simply stunning, but is probably gearing for an early release in 2023. We also have Indiana Jones and The Outer Worlds 2. Then there’s Gears 6 from The Coalition and apparently a smaller new IP as well. Perfect Dark and State of Decay 3 are worth mentioning too.

There are of course many other games as well, even hidden games that will be revealed over time and of course, we’ll be here to cover them all as they arrive. It’s an exciting time to be gaming and it should be grand to see how the overall year turns out going forward.
