This is based on a wild, true story about the first African-American detective of the Colorado Springs Police Department. He ends up getting in direct contact with the higher ups of the Ku Klux Klan and begins to work on that lead. This is a look at the times while also directly connecting it to the modern era.
It is a nice time piece and a rather interesting display of the issues going on at the time. It follows the detective as he works with a colleague sending him undercover to infiltrate this group. It does have some comedic elements as the tale itself is strange and it shows the mentality of both sides.
