First Man directly follows the perspective of Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) as he works through the space program at NASA and then takes command of the shuttle to the Moon. It's a slow burn as you see all of the dangers involved with the flights and the tricky setup to get to that point.
It's certainly an in-depth look at it with tense moments of flight and many dangerous situations. It's a stunningly shot film that really does provide every moment of this journey from a confined side of the action. It takes awhile to get going and it might feel long, but it is one epic journey towards one of society's greatest accomplishments.
