Time has passed and the sisters Elsa and Anna have settled comfortably into their roles. That is, until a certain spirit has started calling upon Elsa. The core group from the first film then heads north to discover the mystery that keeps on interrupting their lives.

With the time that has gone by, the group has matured and you see that in their attitudes. It’s also reflected within the musical aspects and the action that’s presented. It certainly retains the heart of the original, while pushing that further with darker tones to it. There’s a nice sense of progression here and they handle some interesting themes throughout the narrative.

I even found Olaf (Josh Gad) to be far less annoying in this one which is certainly a benefit for me. That aside, the characters are presented in a fun way that’s engaging and perhaps challenging to them as they learn to deal with various problems in order to discover the secrets of the past.

Frozen II 4k Special Features

The Frozen II 4k Blu-Ray comes with a number of special features. These are available to view on the traditional Blu-Ray disc as opposed to the 4k one. That being said, the sing along is available on the 4k disc which is certainly appreciated. They include the following selections that can be viewed individually.

"Outtakes”, “Deleted Scenes”, “Did You Know???”, “Music Videos” and a number of creative type showcases.

There’s a good amount of content on this one and I do definitely appreciate the inclusion of the sing along on both discs as I know fans will appreciate that aspect. In general I was pleased with the look behind the scenes on this film. I would have liked a deeper dive into the production however, as this was largely handled with an interview style using the two directors.

The 4k visuals matched with HDR is simply stunning for this film. It looks incredible, with very in-depth details. This is a benchmark when it comes to modern animation quality presented at this high of a resolution.

The Conclusion

The Frozen II 4k Blu-Ray package is a compelling compilation providing a very high quality version of the animated movie alongside some solid extras. I was very impressed with the visuals, and the quality that’s enhanced further by the HDR. This really does look great, and I once again appreciate having the sing along on the 4k disc.

There are some nice extras with this one, that help back this great movie. I really did enjoy this one, and the more mature tones that it presented. It’s definitely something that fans will appreciate and thoroughly enjoy. They do some interesting things with this one and advance the characters a lot outside of just their age.
