This is the second entry in the soft reboot series where the general Jurassic Park concept has been expanded upon greatly. After the tragic events of the initial Jurassic World time has passed and it would seem the dinosaurs face extinction. There's a large scale volcanic event erupting on the island so our crew from the last movie bands together to save some species before time runs out and they're joined by newcomers.
Things take some interesting twists and it goes from straight up over the top action to a tad more of a horror situation with the switching of scenery. It's an interesting setup and one that further digs into the lore of the science they're deploying within the series and the potential consequences of it. It still has the typical sense of humor one would expect, but it's definitely a darker entry in the overall series.
The Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Blu-Ray comes with a number of special features. These are available to view on the traditional single disc setup unlike in 4k where it would be split. The extras include the following highlighted selections that can be viewed as a bundle or individually. I typically note each of the special items included, but impressively there's just a ton included here. "The Kingdom Evolves"; "Return to Hawaii", "On Set with Chris & Bryce", "Malcom's Return" and "Jurassic Then and Now - Presented by Barbasol". In total there were sixteen distinct titled segments to view, a wide selection for fans.
The features cover basically all elements behind the construction and development of this film. You really do get a wide look at all of the events behind this production. The setup of various key segments, the CGI creation and many looks at how the cast was reacting behind the scenes. For those that want to learn more context about this one it is full of neat discussions and secrets.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom didn't exactly do anything new with the series, but it did provide a neat horror element and this disc is stacked with extras. I'm truly impressed with the quantity of content and that it covers all elements of the film. There's definitely a look at each of the core scenes with many fun features put together. It expands upon the core film and it was great to learn more about this and the inspirations for scenes. The film itself is fine, with some intense action and it presents quite an adventure.
