Minecraft Campfires & What They Do

You might wonder what exactly the "Campfires" do in Minecraft and it's rather simple. It is used as a decorative item to spruce up those outdoors settings and experiences. They do not include fire spread, so worry not about your forest or house catching on fire. The latter has uh, totally never happened to me. They're also able to slowly cook up to four food items at a time, but slowly. These are also a cozy light source that can be lit or unlit which is essentially on or off in case you weren't getting it.

A final note and a big one, is that these campfires can be used as a smoke signal. They'll shoot off smoke into the air that will let others know where you are at a given time, or at a past time I suppose. You achieve these Minecraft smoke signals by placing a hay bale underneath the campfire. This will in turn greatly extend the height the smoke signal reaches when the fire is lit.
