Minecraft Dogs Review

The Minecraft Dogs is a Store Community World that offers a completely fresh adventure within the game. Created by Shapescape this pack provides a place to collect some dog types to play with. It's supposed to be a roleplay/survival map and I suppose it does hit those requirements. What you're given is a small street with a road that abruptly ends and I guess a bit of a park. While I wasn't blown way by the setting, the outside seed area (doesn't factor into review) is surprisingly good and the houses are furnished which is a nice touch.

The central core of this is the pet store, this is a small and somewhat poorly lit room. It has a bunch of dog variations within glass cases. You can feed one a bone and then they'll follow you around. This is basically the most essential part of this particular map and it works well. The animation work is excellent for the breeds available and they even fetch the ball from modest distances. You can feed them too, quite neat mechanics. I just wish there was more you could do with them, should have at least provided a better park area for these interactions.

The Conclusion

This Dogs from Shapescape is a weak map, it presents a distinct concept in how to interact with the dogs but doesn't do much else. The area you've given lacks vision and it's not catered to the dogs. With this literally carrying the name of the animal, it needs to be centered around them. Instead, we've got a street that happens to have a dog only pet store to visit.

The park area comes across as lazy to be honest and all they needed was a large, open grass area to play in. I will say that the animations were fantastic for the animals and the functionality with items should be applauded. I also give props for spending the time to furnish the houses, even though they don't really make sense here. Should have added something to block the street, feels lazy to see it just vanish. You also get five custom skins, they're just some people.
