You might be wondering about Minecraft Dungeons online matchmaking support within the game. At launch, you will not be able to matchmake in order to find others to play with. That means you’ll have to manually invite players to join you online.
It’s noted that the game was intended to be played locally with four players, or with four friends that you know which might sound as an excuse to many. The game is however planned to have cross-play support post-launch to invite friends from other platforms to join in.
The online multiplayer aspect will be supported and the same across any of the platforms it’s releasing on. For reference, that’s Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. It might be disappointing for some that had expected to be able to play the game with randoms online in case they have issues finding others to play with.
That will certainly be a situation here where players will either have to play alone, gather some friends locally or online and as a last effort search for online sessions then manually invite others. To clarify once more, you cannot matchmake in the game to play with others. You must invite folks through a manual action to play with them.
