How Do I Build in Minecraft? The Builder

How Do I Build in Minecraft? This is a question that I am being asked a few times per day. The common answer that I usually give is a bit dull in my opinion, but it is true. My most common answer is: “I don't know.”

Honestly, I do not know what I am building, I simply get inspired and then I start building. Usually, I get some sort of a picture of what I want to achieve or how I want the build to look like. Sometimes the build does not come up as I planned. For example, this windmill was supposed to be a decorative castle tower or a lighthouse.
Minecraft Windmill Medieval Design
The windmill design is probably quite common. That is why I built it quite fast. I was worried about the foundation, but it came out good in the end. I really find the spruce wood logs and stone bricks fitting well with each other. But the windmill wings I built with oak wood to create contrast. The hill did look a little odd without any foliage and trees, so a quick landscaping was in serious need as the general Minecraft chunk loading just did not cut it as usual for my builds. Everything has to be as perfect as plausible.

In the village area, I tried to stick with one design, but I got a bit carried away and each house had more variation than the other. Pathways are rather simple, just path blocks and coarse dirt. I did feel like it was a bit plain, so I added a bunch of peonies around the whole area just to add a little bit of colour and depth to the foliage around the landscape.
Minecraft Medieval Landscaping
Then there is the landscaping itself.

I have always been a huge fan of custom landscaping and creating my own biomes. I got to do it here. I fell in love with the podzol being mixed in with the grass and bushes.

With the trees, I did not really know what to do and I did not really want roll with my very typical custom spruce tree design. So, I tried to create a custom oak tree, but they came out more of a willow tree I suppose. Either way, I am quite pleased with the outcome.

When it comes to landscaping in general at Minecraft my best tip would be: "Try not to make it look perfect." I am truly a perfectionist when it comes to building but I am starting to get rid of that thought and a little bit strange or odd trees and bushes do look rather natural. If you have ever wondered in the woods you know that trees, bushes, roots and rocks are never perfect and that is what you are trying to achieve in Minecraft when you landscape.

And the houses that I made are pretty much fast forward easy to build rustic nor medieval houses with a mixture of dark oak and spruce. Accompanied by a few drops of colour such as the hay bale roof and a tad of birch at the sawmill.
