Minecraft How to Tame Foxes and Breed Them

The nimble Foxes are the latest mob creature to join the wonderful block world of Minecraft. These smaller critters can be found roaming within grass type areas and around villages. Best to note they are mostly found within Taiga biomes specifically.

They're typically beside their favorite food, which is everything available. These critters will eat anything they find on the ground, or even poor chickens in pens as they can hop over fences very easily. The key to taming them is the use of Sweet Berries. This is a type of food that has been added alongside this new mob. This is probably something many will wonder about as mating animals in the game is often desired as you can get an off-spring and have more of them roaming around.

This is a rather easy process, very simple with these creatures. Basically, just keep feeding them the sweet berries until hearts appear over their head and push them together if they're not just meeting each other. The video below shows this process, should be a good visual aid for understanding how to accomplish this goal. Minecraft How to Tame Foxes and Breed Them
That's right, it may not just be about getting the heart emotion going above their heads. You may actually have to manually get them closer together. Achieve this by pushing the critters closer together so that they can connect with one another.

Don’t hit them, instead just brush up against the bushy tailed animals so that they get closer together. A lead is suggested to assist with the offspring afterwards. It's also very important to remove the sweet berries from your hand after doing so as they'll be drawn to you instead of their mate which makes them harder to tame.

When bred, the offspring will trust and love you forever. This is a bonus level of loyalty, different from other mobs within the game. You may need to sneak up on them, they're fast and move quick. You don’t want to startle them during this process. Natural born youth foxes are called a kit, they won’t trust you like a domesticated and tame one will. If a red fox is bred with a snowy one, they have a 50% chance of their baby being red or snowy.

For additional details, these are nocturnal animals which means they come out at night almost exclusively. They will attack other mobs such as Chickens and Rabbits, so be careful when housing those animals. The foxes are as fast as ocelots and flee from nearby players of wolves. They may get some bonuses that allow them to hop really high in the air.

They are special in that the sweet berry bushes don’t alter their attributes. Another really neat aspect to foxes is that they have a sleeping animation which is unique where they will curl up with their tail.
