The Minecraft Ice Age Texture Pack by Visula brings us a series of textures that aim to completely revamp the look of the game. With this pack the world is altered to a frost type look truly aiming to capture that frozen world of the Ice Age.
This is a very strange set of textures, it gives off the appearance of being chilled yet has somewhat of a plastic look. I could assume this is due to the very clean cut designs and it's quite hit or miss. At times I found the distinct look of things to be interesting and others time I wasn't too thrilled by it. It's all rather light in look and while I could see certain situations where it might be good to have I don't believe it to be something I'd like to use all the time.
The paintings are well done carrying a festive look though with this being an "Ice Age" pack that seems weird. In the store it notes that this pack has a Christmas theme over top of it, but that doesn't make much sense. The look of regular blocks is really cool, I especially liked the efforts on the terracotta blocks. This continues with the wools, wood and the weapons since the details were neat on them. The mobs are more or less the same, with altered ones fitting the custom blocks decently in theme.
I'm somewhat on the fence here, it should have either aimed to be festive or do the whole Ice Age type thing and I felt it got stuck between them. The textures vary from really cool to alright and it only worked for me part of the time.
Again, very torn here on thoughts and going with a decent effort of design. I will say that they did a great job of keeping things looking like traditional items as some packs make it far too hard to recognize certain core objects. Whatever the case, if you want a pack to work with that's all snow based with a bright array of colors to match then the pack delivers there.
