Minecraft Lecterns & What They Do

You might wonder what exactly the "Lecterns" do in Minecraft and it's rather simple. These are special blocks that hold books and quills for multiple players to read at once. It is often found within villages, but it can also be crafted if needed with some basic wood based ingredients. You simply place this stand type block item and then tap a book at add it onto the platform. From there, your entire squad can read what’s being shown, it’s a communal way to relay information essentially.

The books can be written on as well, but only if there’s a single viewer. You can take the book off the lectern at any time as well. These can be broken with any tool, but an axe will break it the fastest. These items once again, do naturally generate within village libraries.
