Minecraft The Curse of Captain Ender Review

The Minecraft The Curse of Captain Ender is a Store Community World that offers a completely fresh adventure within the game. Created by Nether Pixel Studios this pack provides a shipwrecked situation where you’re thrust into assisting a local port town with a unique problem. You’ll need to go around this dense medium sized map area in order to assist on various quests. It’s more of an open world style of questing as opposed to linear. There are some side activities and a number of shops that can be visited.

The story is of a fair length, but it does seem a bit anti-climactic at the end of it. There are some very interesting scripted moments containing heavy rain and lightning, that was neat. For the most part everything was smooth, and it wasn’t too difficult to get around. I would have liked the lighthouse to have a bit more distinction however, we were a tad confused by that portion of the mission. They have some neat combative segments present, but balancing could have been a tad better in those moments. Minecraft The Curse of Captain Ender Review

The Conclusion

This, The Curse of Captain Ender from Nether Pixel Studios is a fairly solid map, it presents a medium sized area with a decent quest line. It’s not too heavy in terms of narrative, but does feature some lines of unspoken text to read. These are largely just details on where to head next, just a clue as to what you should be doing. It was a neat way of presenting a quest line as it felt open world, at the same time a tighter linear focus could have been more effective.

We just sort of stumbled upon a key at the top of a house and then went from there, unsure if we missed anything prior to that. I thought the texture work was very interesting here, as were the custom models put in place. They could have used the enemy mobs more, or positioned them to be direct threats as they seemed rather passive for the most part. The town was well crafted, the area was furnished and the world generally felt lively.
