With so many movies releasing each year you can sometimes miss out on great films. To help with that I’ve compiled a list of five 2019 movies that you should check out.

These should all be somewhat strange films, or ones that are gems which have been lost within the shuffle. Hopefully you find a new flick to watch. These are in no particular ranked order and all bring something unique. Any others we should have added? Be sure to let us know.

#5: Booksmart

what an absolutely beautiful and perfect movie that dives into the modern school based female friendship. It’s deep, and also a hilarious comedy. This one hits all the marks and is definitely worth your time.

#4: The Dead Don’t Die

This is not a film for everyone, but I really liked it. This makes fun of the zombie tropes with an ultra dry sense of comedy. You’ll either enjoy it or just hate it. I personally suggest it as it’s so wonderfully weird. Oh, and it has one seriously stacked cast in it.
2019 Movies to Watch

#3: Yesterday

A light romantic comedy that focuses more on the former as one man remembers the iconic Beatles. That’s right, the defining band is gone from existence and this one man is bringing them to everyone for the first time. It’s really good, and an enjoyable watch. Having The Beatles music doesn’t hurt either.

#2: Ready or Not

This is actually a really well done survival horror movie with a fantastic lead. It’s gory, twisting and so exciting to watch as you cheer while being in fear for this leading lady. Very well done, and you’ll never guess where this one heads at any point.

#1: Dora and the Lost City of Gold

This is likely a super odd choice for some, but this was a very impressive take on the character. It’s a gritty yet super family friendly continuation of Dora in live action. You will laugh, feel the adventure and question the sanity of the lead. It’s great, and also very respectful to the source material. I was pleasantly surprised by it and do legitimately heavily suggest giving it a try. You will be blown away, to some degree.

hope you found these to be some different picks from the year, just some suggestions if you’re looking at watching something new. I would also briefly mention Happy Death Day 2U and the first one, enjoyable watches that deserve more attention.
