Return of the Caped Crusaders was great and this animated film acts as a follow-up or well a direct sequel to that. Things have changed with the core group of villains ending up in prison and Batman working to woo Catwoman despite her days behind bars. During a freak accident Harvey Dent (William Shatner) becomes mutilated and then turns into Two-Face. Some time passes and it seems he gets cured from his criminal issues, that is until a string of robberies happen that could very well point to his work. It's a story of mystery and surprise as they work towards finding out what is really going on.
It's up to the dynamic duo, Batman (Adam West) and Robin (Burt Ward) to deal with it. The story was decent incorporating the key characters in what's a very standard story. It's a lot of fun continuing that 1960's charm it aims to be a part of and with the old voices it feels classical. I felt that the plot could have been slightly more complex or perhaps a bit more different as it feels too similar to Return of the Caped Crusaders.
The animation is great in the film being modern in style, yet strangely authentic to the time period it's aiming to emulate. The voices are perfect with the original cast mostly all being present and Shatner's addition was excellent for Two-Face.
It doesn't carry as many jokes as the first movie and sadly strays away from jokes about the original show. I really liked that in the first one that it was well aware of how the 1960's was displayed with little fun jokes and I would have wanted more of that to be present here.
Batman vs Two-Face is a solid follow-up to Return of the Caped Crusaders and while I didn't find it as good, it really does do a great job of building upon that movie. The animation is great and with so many throwback aspects it's a blast. It's just a really fun movie right from the intense opening to the ending dance off credits.
It captures that classic style beautifully and it comes across perfectly as an entry in the 1960's era series. Adam West is great here and with Burt Ward they make the dynamic duo come alive for one final time. The length was decent, the narrative was light and enjoyable, overall a solid watch if you're a fan of this Batman style.
