Bisou Sauvage Review

This is a short film that follows a tragically bored couple that’s looking for their next distraction. It’s quite brief as a short film typically is, being quick to the point. Two people, making out and then dipping into whatever sort of thing they can find to fit their time. Boredom, the need to do something to take up time and the periods in-between.

It’s probably a fairly common element of the modern day and perhaps historically where folks at times just have nothing they really specifically need to do. Hitting that supposed privilege where nothing intense is going on. From there a couple may need to find something out there to do, just to create a spark of excitement. This short explores that concept.

This short carries a very distinct, yet simplistic aesthetic that resonates well. It’s quite striking in its visuals and of all things reminds me of the game MixTape from recent. Where it was a bit intense to see tongues at such a close proximity engaging in motion. There’s eating, lips locking and flies buzzing. It’s really visually neat to take in and gets the point across.

The Conclusion

Bisou Sauvage is a brief, to the point look at boredom in a couple and that need to find something to spark a thrill. I feel that most people know at least one couple that indulges in such things and it’s humorous to see it presented in such a way. I enjoyed this for what it was, although it is almost overly simplistic in its point.

The art direction was very pleasing and striking. It’s just, very short so I can’t draw a whole lot from what I witnessed there honestly. It was fine viewing and I believe it’ll hit a human element well for those that have seen or been part of a situation such as this one.
