Pitch Perfect 3 Review

Last call, Pitches! The third and final installment of the musical Pitch Perfect series follows the Bellas after their big win at the acapella world championship. Unfortunately, the Bellas are now separated and struggling to make ends meat for themselves. For those that are unaware acapella is a style of music where all songs are performed without any instruments.

Luckily for Beca (Anna Kendrick), Chole (Brittany Snow), Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) and the rest of the Bellas they get their chance to reunite with each other and go on one final tour together. They get word of the USO tour to support the troops, but this year comes with a twist; the winner becomes the opening act for DJ Khaled. However, the competition they must face has never been tougher.

Pitch Perfect 3 brings back the fans favourite features from the other two movies, such as: The Rift Off, Collaborations, Mash-ups, and of course acapella music. The film also brought back all the featured Bellas from the previous films. Pitch Perfect 3 also adds some new depth to the series, with additional story lines, and new motives for everyone involved. However, I don’t agree with some parts that they added in, but I can see why it was necessary.

This Pitch Perfect has a more mature feel to it, there is more to this film then just another singing competition. There were some strong family ties, and about finally settling down with life. Trish Sie takes the mantle of directing this entry of the series which could be why it has a more mature feel to it.

The music that was used fits well, with enough upbeat music to keep the audience entertained but fit into the flow of the movie. I personally like how not only did the characters evolve and grow in the seven years the series has been around, but also how the series and themes evolved along with it. The audience can clearly see how the actresses grew up together and how they act like sisters more than coworkers.

The Conclusion

In conclusion, the third and final entry in the Pitch Perfect franchise went off without a hitch. This musical has enough humor to keep the audience laughing, enough music to keep them nodding along, and with more mature themes than the last two films.

With the returning cast the movie just feels right. If you liked the last two entries, you will like this one as well. Pitch Perfect 3 had all the right things with this end to the franchise and wrapped it up with a nice ribbon. Merry Pitchmas!
