This is a short film that explores the rather strange situations that could possibly go on while exploring the Montreal metro. It’s straight forward in concept but wonderful ridiculous and over the top.
This made for a brief, but lovely time. It’s to the tune of Kate and Anna McGarrigle’s “Complainte pour Ste-Catherine” which helps provide a jolly time the whole way through.
I wasn’t initially sure just how wild a metro could get, but this certainly did provide some fun moments and an easy viewing. From the weird situation surrounding a couch to showcasing the variety of people that make up the area of Montreal, it’s lovely.
The animation work here was top notch with excellent layers of depth and detail in every frame. There were so many background details and it somewhat demands a few viewings which of course are easier to consume with the musical beats backing this one up. It’s lighthearted, filled with harmony and as teased it provides a good chuckle here or there. There’s a lot of heart with this one.
The Girl With the Red Beret is a charming, lovely animated short providing a detailed look into the wackiness that is the Montreal metro. It’s tight, with every frame being filled to the brim with detail.
There’s a lot to see if you really look into it and I’m sure you’ll find this one to be rather entertaining. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I had a good moment with this one. It’s a great song, a relaxed atmosphere and a good view of the culture.
