After a long 14 years of waiting, we finally got the sequel we were all waiting for as The Incredibles 2 has finally arrived. This sequel will bring old and new fans joy when watching it. Brad Bird returns as writer and director for the most sought after superhero movie and brought it to a new height. For this time around, it’s Elastigirl (voiced by returning Holly Hunter) who gets the chance to be the hero in the spotlight; thanks to a fan and believer in superheroes.
Although his wife is out saving the world, Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) has the hardest job; taking care of their three kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack. Does Elastigirl have what it takes to change how the world feels about superheroes? But more importantly, Does Mr. Incredible have what it takes to take care of Jack Jack on his own?
Being raised around the time of the first movie, I can say I was pleasantly surprised that the wait was actually worth it. It was nice to hear all the familiar voices, such as Brad Bird as Edna, and Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. However, they decided to change the voice actor for Dash, which is understandable considering the first film was 14 years ago and the voice actor has grown up a lot since then, but when you compare the old to the new, it is nearly identical. I also like how they picked up right where the first ended, some true fan service. I was happy to see some character development even in just the little time between the films. The Incredibles 2 dived into the back story of the universe which was nice to learn about.
Just like every other Pixar film, the animation was amazing. The story flowed very well, you can tell they took their time with the film and it really pays off. I did feel that the story lacked some depth, and was a little predictable. I was sad that the Frozone appearance wasn’t as good as it was in the first film. Watching the film in 3D added to the whole experience and is something you shouldn’t go without.
The Incredibles 2 is another amazingly animated film from Disney Pixar, that will be another box office smash to continue Disney’s reign. It features strong family ties and every ones favourite big screen theme right now, superheroes.
If you were a fan of the first movie, you will love this one. It is definitely worth the wait, you will not be disappointed at all. The Incredibles 2 will make you laugh but also, make you feel happiness, sadness and everything in between. The Incredibles 2 is a near masterpiece.
