This is a Netflix Original Series that follows a group of students trying to survive in the growing zombie apocalypse. This is set in a Korean high school with some perspectives from the military and other little smaller roles to help showcase the greater scale of what’s happening. With it being a Korean based property this is a foreign language series with an English dubbing that is present. It’s actually a fairly solid offering filled with drama, hopeful moments and some surprises along the way.

It’s quite gritty in terms of presentation as essentially no one is safe, even those that you may be cheering for to survive. This adds a level of realism one might note, and it’s interesting to see that the infection doesn’t necessarily impact everyone the same in this particular setting and that was fun to watch in action. The episodes are fairly long, but do pack in a lot of key moments that keep the pacing flowing.

I did find that it was sort of somewhat slow in some spots but by the end of it I enjoyed the group and wished that more had made it further. I would imagine this one is open to being expanded upon, that being said the conclusion definitely made this feel like it can act entirely as a standalone experience which is great for those wanting to have something that feels conclusive.

The performances were generally quite solid across the board here. You get some really emotional bits, some acts of courage and then always twists along the way. It was very overly dramatic at points as well, but I think they hit the mark for the most part.

The environments came across as realistic and for the most part any CGI moments were decently handled throughout. I enjoyed the sets, and the scale of what was present here. They certainly don’t hold back on the gore and like I said, essentially no one is safe in this situation. It really does come down to the wire almost for survival within this one.

The Conclusion

All of Us Are Dead Season 1 is a solid zombie survival series that brings bittersweet moments with complete surprises throughout. It’s not necessarily anything groundbreaking within the genre of zombies action, but it’s decently enjoyable the whole way through. It had some nice touches of realism, and of course the dramatic attitude one might expect from where this was set. They give a good selection of perspectives so that you can fully understand the scale of the situation.

The episodes were somewhat long and despite good pacing it can feel as though it stretches on at times. Still, it was an enjoyable watch that had be trying to cheer for some of the survivors despite it being very clear that no one really was safe in this and it will definitely provide some curveballs here or there. Decently well shot, filled with gruesome gore and some action that will keep you enjoying this dramatic presentation.
