Amy Schumer Growing is a Netflix Original comedy special that runs about an hour in length. It was filmed in Chicago and is filled with jokes about the present situation she was in at the time of filming. In this she tackles later marriage; pregnancy and apparently personal growth over the years. She largely jokes about being pregnant here, with a number of them targeted at her husband. It seems like the guy has some rather whimsical adventures.
To generally start, I can't say I find her particularly funny. When reviewing something like this I go in with a generally blank opinion as I want to remove the rather negative thoughts. Give it a fair go for coverage and I still wasn't blown away, or even mildly entertained by this. I think I got a couple laughs in, perhaps a sly chuckle or two throughout its run. That's not to say you won't enjoy it however; it feels quite on brand with her typical style of humor and if you like that, this should come across as fine. It is just a small variation on her typical style as this routine is focused on her current situation in life.
Theatrics wise there isn't a whole lot going on here. It's a rather plain stage and she just sort of blends into it. There's no extra showmanship here, and with good reason she's not running around wildly in this one. I just generally felt they could have done something else style wise with the presentation, just felt bland. The crowd seemed to mostly react to what she said, but that's to be expected.
Amy Schumer certainly has confidence while delivering the jokes, I suppose that's a good thing to have with this industry. Again, didn't really react to much of what was showcased. I thought the later parts of the show were a bit better, just extreme miss and then occasional hit for me personally. Again, this type of humor just doesn't resonate with me too well. I will mention that this is adult in nature, as most live comedy specials are.
Amy Schumer Growing is a live comedy special that brings her typical style while focusing on marriage, pregnancy and apparently personal growth. She focuses on what it has been like to be pregnant with jokes based around that. You get to hear an awful lot about her husband and the strange things he does.
Sounds like that guy has a lot going on, some interesting situations. Other than that, you get to hear comments about her current life while still retaining her well known style. I didn't enjoy this, but others might. I didn't really find much of it to be funny, and the presentation was generally bland.
