Update:The group announced on Twitter their new game would be "Drifters", so it looks like the Borderlands GOTY isn't releasing in the near future, or it might be given a showcase at GDC, Pax East 2019 or E3 2019.
It would seem that evidence is mounting that a Borderlands GOTY Remaster might be on the way. It was originally reported that early Trophies had leaked for the PS4 version of this updated package. Additional rumors are now pointing towards an announcement on Tuesday March 5, 2019 about this new iteration of the game being revealed. These come as a tease from Blind Squirrel Games’ Twitter social media account that has a countdown timer. They were the group originally noted possibly working on this version of the game following their work on Bioshock: The Collection, another 2K Games title package. This makes it likely that the teased Borderlands enhancement will bring various improvements to the game for current generation consoles.
I would assume we’d see an aim for 60fps with 4k resolution options on premium consoles, these elements among various other tweaks. This would make Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC platforms the target for this update. It might also end up Nintendo Switch due to the console’s growing support from publishers and a good introduction for the franchise to that platform audience. While this is just rumored, the various elements do seem to make this a possible release announced for the recently discussed revamp of the first game. We’ll have to wait and see, for now check out our review of the Handsome Collection or the series hub below.
