Now that the developers behind the game are now fully back to work, the DayZ 1.08 update is well underway. It’s actually being tested within experimental servers on PC. With that, we have many details on what exactly is being changed.
This will be going over the big adjustments that are being made to the title for that release. For context, the updates get tested on PC for a few weeks prior to then being ported over to Xbox One and Playstation 4 platforms.
The first feature to highlight is base destruction and raiding has been given big changes. There will be destruction options where you can now damage structures using melee attacks, firearms or explosives. This will also apply to tents within the game, and they can become ruined now.
Other changes include increasing material cost for wooden crates and decreasing the hidden stash lifetime to only two weeks. Another big highlighted addition is fireplaces. The environment will not factor into starting fires, it’ll be difficult.
You’ll likely need to head indoors to get a successful one going, or to use brand new fireplaces that can be found indoors. The Sporter 22 and its attachments will be added, alongside a lighter and frying pan. New locations are coming too, such as the SKVSCh Biatlon Arena location to Chernarus and the Saint Roman ski resort location to Chernarus.
You’ll also be able to find wrecked cars for vehicle parts. Those are the main changes for now, we’ll have full patch notes upon the actual release of this update. Read our review of the DLC for the game, or below in our hub for expansive coverage of the series.
