Almost half a million player have enjoyed DayZ across the trial and purchased versions of the game.

15,000 to 20,000 players are playing the game daily, though it's not mentioned if this is only the Xbox version. The server requirement for this number is around 180.

Loot will be lost and many more changes are expected over time, though server based tweaks shouldn't be needed for awhile after this one. They note to get ready for many characters wipes over time and of course the loss of your loot.
