On the Xbox Store site it looks like Dead Island 2 has a placeholder release date set for 2019. It’s unknown if this is an indication of the game releasing within the year, but it showcases that the date has been adjusted. This is following up on news that the game was still in development as of 2018. With many years of rumored behind the scenes issues, the game could very well receive some sort of release within the year. The date is noted as releasing on December 31, 2019 which is a known placeholder, typically indicating a date within that year to take its place.
It’s available for pre-order on the store and has the following description. ”Several months after the events on Banoi, California has become a bloody paradise for those who refuse to leave their homes, and an action-packed playground for renegades who seek adventure, glory, and a fresh start. Choose from an elite crew of heroes who are immune to the zombie virus and are eager to run headfirst into the apocalypse.” It should be interesting to see if the game does end up getting released, if so it’ll likely be showcased at E3 2019, though there’s specific detail on the state of this game.
