The install size for Gears 5 has been revealed coming in at a rather massive size at launch releasing on September 10, 2019 and taking up a total of 57.72 GB on the Xbox Marketplace. It also takes up a total of 65.66 GB on the Windows Store. The game is also Xbox One X enhanced providing a 4k resolution at 60fps with HDR support.
Past that, it is a Xbox Play Anywhere title where you can purchase it digitally once on Xbox One or Windows 10 PC to own it on both. If you’re a Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you also have access to the title including a pre-load.
Gears 5 is the latest entry in this long running hardcore shooter franchise that was developed by The Coalition. It is the next main entry that aims to expand the scope of the experience in new ways. The campaign features a crumbling world where the Swarm has corrupted the Coalition’s robot army and is descending upon human cities. Kait Diaz breaks away from the action to uncover her connection to the enemy, and the true danger to Sera that is herself.
With Escape, you work as a three player squad to escape dangerous hive locations that are filled with enemies. There’s also a map builder that allows the creation of custom Escape maps to challenge others with. Versus continues to expand with new additional modes, and ways to play in this highly competitive area that’s been a staple of the series.
Horde has you working with others to defend positions, and endure intense waves that continue to grow in strength over the course of the match. New elements add replayability to this Horde setup.
