Two Gears of War 3 map packs are now free for Xbox One and Xbox 360 users. These two packs are loaded with content and currently available for nothing. We're not sure if this is done in error or if it's a move to make the content free like with what was done for older Halo titles. It would make sense since both are first party, whatever the case it's nice to get some free maps. The two packs are the "Fenix Rising" and "Forces of Nature" offerings. You can grab the license for them from the link below and then download them onto whatever platform you want to enjoy them on.
The Fenix Rising map pack brings five maps including Academy, Anvil, Depths, The Slab and a remake of Escalation from the original Gears of War. It also provides 250 gamerscore and four new multiplayer characters; Recruit Clayton, Savage Marauder, and new variants of Thrashball Cole and Savage Kantus. The Forces of Nature map pack includes five elemental themed levels; Aftermath (Flooding City), Artillery (Tornado), Cove (Fog), Jacinto (Rainstorm and Imulsion), and Raven Down (Snowstorm). It also provides 250 gamerscore and four new multiplayer characters; the Savage Hunter, and new variants of Commando Dom, Mechanic Baird, and the Savage Grenadier Elite. This should be some great content for those that might not have experienced the selection of maps or perhaps no yet earned the gamerscore. Be sure to grab them in case it's an error as we don't believe they would recall older free content like this. The content was available as of February 14, 2018 for Gears of War 3 on Xbox One or Xbox consoles.
