With the collection getting a revamp update and being added to Xbox Game Pass on September 1, 2018 there were some questions about noted details in the trailer. That being what sort of resolution will be present for each of the games when the package launches. In the trailer for the update it specifically mentions eighteen seconds in "Up to 4k UHD and HDR" which could mean that not all of the games will be getting a large bump in resolution quality. That would be somewhat disappointing and I was curious if I could get further details on this. With that, I reached out to my Xbox rep to get information on the resolution details.
The quote can be found below, but apparently the lowest entry will be at least 1080p at 60fps. This could be suggesting Halo 2: Anniversary, which was initially launched at 1328x1080 now hits at least a native 1920x1080. Keep in mind, it will be 60fps across the board. Halo 3 is a safer bet for hitting a native 4k resolution with the Xbox Backwards Compatible enhanced version doing so, but that was at 30fps whereas it hits 60fps in the collection. More details will most likely be available in the near future as the launch is approaching quickly.
The quoted wording:
"All four games in the MCC will get a resolution improvement to at least 1080p and run at 60 fps, but the team hasn’t confirmed whether they’ll all run in native 4K"
