With the Xbox Scarlett on the horizon, which is the next generation gaming console for Microsoft the company has been looking at new tech to pair with it. We’re seeing that with a series of patents that have been revealed.

Some of these are new input options, as well as items with vr (virtual reality) support. These are linked to below, if you want to dive into the sheet of specs on what they’re looking at.

One of the patents is for a VR mat that marks the edges of a map for the player. It looks to work with a headset, a camera and the console connection wise. There’s another one for a motion controller, may be able to use it with one hand while the other has a directional stick. It seems to emulate what the Wii (Nintendo) had going on motion wise.

Finally, there’s a strange stylus pen for unique experiences like with what THQ was doing with drawing pads, or like the Nintendo DS design. This wouldn’t be too odd considering Microsoft Surface devices support special pen usage. It’s interesting, we’ll have more coverage towards the release of that new Xbox Scarlett in fall 2020 and of course check out the Microsoft hub for additional coverage of their devices.
