Minecraft Nintendo Switch Bedrock Release Date

A large update is coming as the Minecraft Nintendo Switch Bedrock release date has been announced as June 21, 2018. This will bring cross-play, Xbox Achievements, Realms and other great features to the platform. This is however just the initial release as other tweaks are coming in. With this release there will be retail and digital options, this new version will replace the existing Nintendo Switch Edition that's available for free. It will be the exact same as what happened with Xbox One when the new version arrived. When it comes to the biggest benefit it will feature cross-play support across Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, Android devices, iOS phones and tablets, and VR platforms.

This is a huge deal and the first time this has ever happened on this scale. It is worth noting that "Servers" and "Realms" won't be available in any form on the platform until a few weeks after launch as it's not yet prepared. That includes joining Realms from other platforms, we checked on that with the rep for Minecraft. This version will also debut with the "Aquatic Update".

“This new version of Minecraft offers players even more options to play anytime and anywhere on Nintendo Switch,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “With previously released content like the Super Mario Mash-Up included, players everywhere can experience what it’s like when Minecraft meets the Mushroom Kingdom!”

Other details include the Minecraft Marketplace featuring full cross-buy support for accounts across all devices. Purchase additional mash-up packs; skin packs, texture packs, worlds and more from the store through safe coins. We cover a lot of this content, it's great. This Minecraft Nintendo Switch Bedrock should be a huge deal bringing the console to the same level as other platforms with the excellent option of cross-play. Earn Xbox Achievements, collect Gamerscore and have statistics of play on the Nintendo Switch, which is crazy.
