With the full reveal of the Playstation 5 console release date and launch information we were able to inquire directly with Sony in regards to some questions. One of those was about whether it was always the plan to offer the noted PS5 exclusive games on Playstation 4.

It was a strange note that Sony made following the event considering the strong message that generations were the goal moving forward. Still, it’s great that gamers will be able to enjoy these titles without having to upgrade. The query and reply is found below.

That original query was “Were Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West always planned as PS4 releases alongside the PS5 ones?”. We were given the response of ”SIE anticipate that the PS4 community will transition to next-gen at different points in time, so they wanted to offer games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS4. And when they’re ready to move to PS5, they can upgrade the game at no charge.” which was provided by our PR representative.

Very interesting details and great to get a reply. We have additional questions that are being looked at as well. For now, you can see our review of the impressive The Last of Us Part II or also check out the general PS5 hub below for further coverage of the next generation console.
