Shadow of the Tomb Raider will have an online experience with cooperative multiplayer. That's right, at the event I was flown to in Montreal for the reveal of the game we were able to get a special interview. This was round-table styled with a couple outlets, but I did my best to ask interesting questions when I was able to. I almost didn't get this one in as I had to squeeze it in after they said we were done, very nice people. With that, I chatted with Eidos-Montreal's Shadow of the Tomb Raider Game Director, Daniel Chayer-Bisson. You can view the full interview linked below, but I'll pull out the specific aspect of it that goes over the coop multiplayer.
"Listening to the fans so yes multiplayer. It won’t be competitive, it’ll be a different kind of cooperative multiplayer. It should impress and be different. Can’t give additional details than that. "
He seemed really excited about the aspect of it and I'm glad I asked. I was mostly trying to see if they were attempting what Tomb Raider (2013) had which was competitive and I enjoyed it. Whatever the case, this should be interesting and perhaps based on the Expeditions from Rise. With that, the confirmation on this aspect of the game being present is confirmed. I'm not sure how big of an experience it will be yet I was constantly teased by the folks there that more will be announced at E3 2018. I'll be in attendance and probably checking some more of Lara's latest adventure. What I played of the game thus far was awesome, so be ready for a great time when the game arrives September 14, 2018 on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. It'll also be Xbox One X enhanced which is what the demo station was showcasing in glorious 4k.
