With the official first announcement that filming is set to begin, a true jedi master is set to return as in Star Wars: Episode IX Luke Skywalker is returning. That's right, the iconic star Mark Hamill will return in some form or another. It doesn't specifically say he's coming into that role, but what else would he play. It could be the physical return of the character, though most likely with be a force ghost in nature acting in guidance to Rey after the loss of Carrie Fisher and the events of "The Last Jedi".
This will probably be exciting for fans of the franchise as it's great to see the truly iconic character return for the ninth main entry.
Star Wars: Episode IX will begin filming at London’s Pinewood Studios on August 1, 2018. J.J. Abrams returns to direct the final installment of the Skywalker saga. Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio. The release is set for December 2019, we'll probably review it then. This is also noted as the final installment of the Skywalker saga.
