Marvel went wild with announcements while at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. One of the big reveals was Thor: Love and Thunder which arrives in theaters on November 5, 2021. This is the fourth entry in that specific character’s franchise and it’ll be changing things up this time around. The film will star Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and Natalie Portman (Jane Foster). It was revealed that Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, will become the Mighty Thor, the goddess of Thunder.
This will likely be similar to a comic book line that follows this change-up for the characters. It’s quite surprising that Portman will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she had shown a dislike for how the character was handled. The movie will be directed by Taika Waititi, who also handled Thor: Ragnarok which was the previous entry in this character’s solo listing. Timeline wise this is to take place in Phase 4, after the events of Avengers: Endgame. That movie ending had Thor going off into space with what remained of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
