Following the events of CES 2021 I was able to chat with the Incipio group’s representatives in order to take a look at some of their solutions for mobile devices. With that, the first of the selection was the Griffin wireless fast charging pad. This particular iteration is a fifteen watt option, which of course has safe charging.
With that, it’s particularly setup for fast charging for Apple and Samsung devices which is expected. For this testing I was using my primary iPhone XS and photo focused Google Pixel 4 to see how it would work. I did both wall based charging, and USB as well which uses Type-C when connected to the device to regular USB onto my computer.
That’s right, it’s versatile when it comes to cords allowing a traditional wall plug-in or just USB on other devices if needed. I suppose if you have a wall plug-in for USB it works there as well, since I do have that available to me.
That aside, the wall plug block was a tad large, but it makes sense for its particular function. Going back to the charging aspect, you’ll see a blue LED light indicate that it’s working. Your phone will also likely show the icon that it’s being charged as well. With that, I would have liked this light to be more available around the design, since it’s a small bar on one side that I rarely noticed.
I think that aspect could have been implemented more within the design so it was more visible. It does work through supported cases, and to the phone itself. It’s held on this rubberized surface that feels nice to the touch, but does seem to get a bit dirty with stuff sticking to it.
With that, it does seem to hold devices well enough. Aesthetically the black look is nice, and it has respectably long cords coming from it to plug into either the wall or other USB enabled options. I will mention that while it has a “Guaranteed for Life” note, this covers five years from the date of purchase in smaller detailed notes on the box.
The Griffin 15W Wireless Charging Pad is a great option for keeping your devices juiced up and ready to go. It’s an easy going pad that you can easily just place your device on, knowing it’ll hold steady and do its job. It has options for how you provide power to the circular charging pad and it’s a proper size for modern phone options.
The materials are generally nice, and aesthetically it fits into the environment I used it in. I definitely think this is a fine choice for this type of charging tech, hitting the required marks and providing a proper amount of power to make sure that it gets the devices I use kicking at full strength again. It’s performed well through multiple full battery charges over a number of days, so I’m generally quite satisfied with the product.
