While I was at CES 2020 I visited with Kanex and was handed the GoBuddy+ so I thought I’d give it a whirl. This is a very interesting, and different sort of item to own.

It’s not really tech oriented, but it somewhat is so it fits I suppose. This certainly does serve its purpose entirely well, and is a bridge I wouldn’t have expected to see.
Kanex GoBuddy+ Review
What you get here is a short lightning ChargeSync cable of 8.25 inches, and at the same time a bottle opener. It does come in handy, it’s nicer than dragging a long cord around to use with a powerbank, and it can open bottles which is occasionally a thing that appears in life.

This is a rather compact situation, cord wise it’s aesthetically pleasing yet I would have liked more length or even something else to the interior as it’s a bit larger than it perhaps needed to be. I got a green colored one which is a theme I personally enjoy, so that’s good.

This has a quality metal and plastic combination to it, seems to be something that could last awhile. It also has a clip if you want an easier connection or say keys. I tested this with a couple powerbanks, so it charges your phone fine and it does open bottles well so no issues with its proposed functionality.

It’s light, I could see being helpful and a good thing to have if you’re going to a party. My main thing would be some sort of extra aspect to it, or a longer cord. Maybe a flashlight or a small internal battery considering the size, even sneaking more cord on the interior of it. Those are just some thoughts, but again it does serve its purpose.

The Conclusion

The Kanex GoBuddy+ delivers on exactly what it’s supposed to bring, an iPhone lightning cable for charging, and a bottle opener. This can open bottles, that’s important for those that need to have an opener on hand. It also does bridge a gap for charging, and it worked fine for that.

This is a handy thing in certain situations, and if it might serve a purpose in your life than it’s nice to have around. A strange thing to exist, at the same time I totally get why it does and it’ll be neat to have in case I need it. A talking piece almost, that’s for sure.
