Speck Presidio Stay Clear Review

While at CES 2020 I met up with Speck and was handed this case as a sample and thought I’d review it. This is a clear case that’s designed to work with iPhone X and XS, I have the latter.

This is noted as providing eight feet protection whenever your phone is dropped so in most regular situations it should have you covered. It definitely has an interesting design for support, while allowing you to still admire the aesthetic of the Apple device. It feels thick, isn’t easily bent and comes across as sturdy.
Speck Presidio Stay Clear Review
This provides more than adequate protection, while working well in terms of making sure I can still enjoy the look of my phone which is important. I will note that it was somewhat hard to take my phone out, but that’s not something you’re necessarily going to be doing a lot of with a case.

It worked fine for button pressing, with a slightly increased tension requirement when pressing. The camera element is left open, but it’s nestled within the case so it’s not sticking out. When testing general drops the case seemed to largely land on its back which is ideal.

The back does keep relatively smudge free, unless you’re really looking for those sort of marks. It also handles some weather elements well, as a transparent design would typically get dirty. Another nice element is that this supports Qi wireless charging through the case, so you don’t have to remove your phone from it for juicing the battery up.

This is great, as I don’t really use cords for charging my devices at this point. I will note that it does scratch fairly easily, but these seemed to be mostly faint and not something you’d really notice. That being said, it’s a bit too easy to scratch and I’m sure that aspect won’t be pleasing for everyone. I’m not too bothered as the ones I’ve seen are tiny and I have to look for them to notice their presence.

The Conclusion

The Speck Presidio Stay Clear is a great option for phone protection, offering a clear view of the aesthetic of your device. Again, it does seem to get marked up fairly easily, but I haven’t seen in any scratches that were too noticeable. It’s certainly a sturdy case, it should offer the type of protection you’d be expecting for this type of cover.

I wish it was a bit easier to get my phone in and out of it, but you’re not really needing to take a device out of it too often since you can wirelessly charge through it. I think is a more than solid choice to handle your particular phone, and allow it to be cleanly seen through it.
