We’ve seen numerous takes on classic consoles in recent years. Whether that’s in a block format or in the context of mini versions of nostalgic pieces. This is the MEGA Xbox 360 which takes the classic Xbox console and provides it within a 3:4 scale.

So it’s certainly smaller than the real thing, but it scales nicely and is definitely a lot lighter which was appreciated. I occasionally forget how heavy that console can be, since I brought it out to make some direct comparisons.

They really did nail the design aesthetically, this is a great recreation of a console I spent many years enjoying. It’s filled with little references, or well easter eggs and it goes beyond the expected level of details which I thoroughly appreciated.

It’s a lengthy build as you may expect with 1342 pieces being included among some extra ones as well being left over. It’s suggested for eighteen plus considering the complexity, and that makes sense considering the age range that would likely be interested and have a nostalgic desire to enjoy making this.

It will take quite a few hours to compile if you’re wondering about the timeline. It can be split nicely however with the great guide book. You can tackle the controller first which comes with a nice stand, then do the console and what not.

The controller itself nails that original design, perhaps being even more ergonomic in comparison to the original version. It captures the feels, and the thumbsticks even have a bit of movement to them. It’s topped off with a middle power button that can be turned on, just like back in the day.

Alongside the controller you’ll find a case for Halo 3. This includes the disc which can be placed within the console and the case itself perfectly emulates the original design. It has both the front and back recreated with the MEGA design and it’s awesome. I would love if they would release additional cases with other Xbox 360 games, would be nice to display.

The case was truly cool. Just like the final extended piece which is an Achievement you can make when you finish the console, it matches nicely with the whole style of this one. Alright, let’s talk about the console build. You get essentially the entire build from the outside, to the inside. The outer layer perfectly nails the design from the hard drive at the top to the various vent places and of course each plug-in.

The front button is alight just like with the controller. The only missed opportunity for this set honestly was not to have an easter egg red ring of death option, that would have been the perfect extra little laugh. Missed opportunity honestly. The inside is accessed from peeling off some side panels, it’s really easy if you want to display the cozy interior.

This space is truly awesome, and truly something that takes time to build. It features two lighting situations, a large Xbox button and also an incredible Cortana chip space. This is prompted from the tray area and she glows blue, it’s a charming addition that I loved. You also have some moving fans, little areas that mock the interior of the Xbox 360 and some other little touches which were nice. It just hits it well, and was really cool display wise.

The Conclusion

The MEGA Xbox 360 is a perfect recreation of such a special console. It nails every aspect of the experience and I don’t have any complaints. The only thing I would have added is the red ring of death for a good laugh, but outside of that there’s nothing more I could have expected from this. The controller looks excellent and the light is nice to have.

The Achievement button is charming to include and I was blown away by the authentic Halo 3 case. Seriously Mattel, build some more game cases as that would be so cool to have and swap with this console option. Then there’s the console, which lovingly recreates something I spent ever so many hours with.

The lights are nice to have, the interior is detailed and the exterior perfectly matches the console. They really just delivered here. It provides some solid work time but is a labor of love. It’s all so well crafted from the actual product, to the material packaging and every little touch. I loved this package, it was a true journey and hit the right nostalgia I desired.
