Scooby-Doo is the latest licensing set option from Playmobil, and it’s a really great one to have. This is a smaller set that’s part of the collection, but an important one at that. This features the core snacking duo from Mystery Inc. with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy being present within the package. Alongside them is a spooky ghost that has a mysterious secret to them.
To the side, you get some additional accessories that either match the ghostly character, or the attitude of the crew. That means some snacks, and investigative equipment. It’s somewhat simple, and to the point. It is also what I’d likely consider to be the heart of the crew, as these two are very important to just what the show and movies were all about.
Focusing in on the characters; Shaggy definitely matches the style you would expect, while being transformed into that well known Playmobil design. This is also present within the ghost, which has two layers. There’s the ghost costume, and then the individual underneath it.
With the change between costumes, I did personally have some trouble getting the ghostly outfit to slide onto the head. There’s a bit of a learning curve with that swap. Now, onto the headlining character of Scooby. This is one seriously impressive model that looks as though it perfectly captures the character.
You get moveable legs, an adjustable mouth and just the right look when it comes to facial expressions. It almost stands out from all of the other Playmobil designs which is interesting. Regardless, they absolutely nailed Scoob here, with each detail from his collar to the tail that can twist around. There was a lot of care spent on this model, and it shows.
The Playmobil Scooby-Doo Scooby and Shaggy with Ghost set 70287 is a solid addition for the collection with a near perfect Scoob model. I found the additional characters of Shaggy and the ghost to also be well done. This is a nice building piece for a Scooby-Doo collection, or it works fine as a standalone collectible piece to showcase this duo as they take on this mysterious ghost. Again, they did some really great work on Scoob here as the articulation is impressive.
Shaggy fits in right for the style of what Playmobil is, as does the ghost. I did find it neat that there were ghostly options too, that’s appreciated. It’s a nice little extra set, I do however wish there was just something more to it. Like some sort of aspect to set the mood, or the situation a tad more. Still, a well done option that I think is done just right.
